My philosophy and approach
Arcturus is one of the brightest stars you can see in our northern hemisphere. It has been used for centuries to guide seafarers across seemingly endless oceans before they returned to reach safe harbor. I often use metaphors in my practice to illuminate fresh insights into the psychological and emotional challenges that often-become barriers to our well-being, to be fully present with ourselves and others around us, and to live meaningful lives with intention and purpose. Finding our way through the myriad of life’s challenges requires a deepening of our ability to be self-reflective, willingness to trust ourselves to be fully present, accepting things as they are while allowing us to chart a new course for personal growth.
My Story
Experienced Counselor
Fully-certified as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in state of Oregon since 2019 and Colorado in 2023. The majority of my experience has been in Alaska and more recently Colorado, counseling with Veterans and their families. I run Arcturus counseling as a part-time practice and only select a small group of clients to dedicate my time whole heartedly to helping others reach their treatment and wellness goals. I also have a passion for the outdoors and have taught and practiced wilderness and adventure based therapy and hope to incorporate these into my practice in the future as I strongly believe in experiential learning which are deeply enriching to the soul journey we call life. I plan to move back to Kake, Alaska in 2024 and will expand my practice living and working in a rural area nestled among the Tongass rainforest and land of the Tlingit, Tsimshian and Haida, Alaska Native people and communities.
About Arcturus Counseling
Telemental health or telehealth counseling services are the only types of services I currently offer for Oregon residents. I conduct all sessions virtually via a video connect web-based platform that is both confidential and HIPAA compliant per federal/national policy protections governing patient/client health protected information.
